   District 308B1 Youth Camp 2003

An unusual Youth Camp conducted by the Omega Leo of District 308 B1 which took place at Eagle Ranch Resort Sport Paradise, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. It was a three days  and two nights camp commencing on Thursday, 11th December 2003 to 13th December 2003. The number of participant who took part was 123, where most of them came from the Leo Clubs. All participant were selected on the basis of an even mix of different races, culture and geographical areas.

All participants command a minimum proficiency in English and also the official language of the camp. The participants were of healthy mind and body with no emotional disorders. The rules and protocol of the camp were applied and was strictly followed by all. Smoking, drugs, fighting, destruction of camp property, vandalism and leaving of camp boundary were strictly prohibited. No valuables were to be brought to the camp. Anyone who broke any of the rules would be sent home immediately and the camp fee would be forfeited.

The camp fee was RM 200.00 per participant. Our sponsoring Lions Club, Lions Club of JB Host fully sponsored 5 of us to the camp. During the three days, 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 2 dinners were provided. Separate dormitory blocks for males and females were provided, which each accommodated 20 persons and with bathroom attached. Participants were responsible for their own hygiene. many activities such as obstacles courses, rafting, abseiling gave us a chance to overcome fear and to gain experience which one might not be able to achieve in our life time. At the same time, we went through telematches and many other creative workshop.

The main theme of the camp was to help participants adapt to the changing world and to help youth bring out the creativity in them. Youth could also took this opportunity to overcome shyness, bring out the talent in them and help us discovered the reality in a person. The participants were also taught to be independent and cooperative with one another as we went through all the activities. It really gave us a chance to learn something without our parental guidance.
All in all, five of us enjoyed very much during this outing. We hope in future, we would be given a chance again to further our experiences.
Last but not least, we would like once again thanked our Lions for sponsoring us.

Here are some photos we took during the camp:
